Superman #712

Kurt Busiek, Rick Leonardi, and Jonathan Sibal

"Lost Boy" So... this thing has already gotten some serious press. Most of which can be read here: http://www.comicsalliance.com/2011/06/22/superman-712-muslim/

This thing is going to be quick so I won't deal with the bold summaries and high/low points. I can just say that this thing is pretty sad. Its got a silver lining in the fact that both Superman and Superboy are now back, but still, if this issue had come out when it was supposed to, tears would be shed like nobody's business. We follow Krypto the Superdog through flashbacks and travels around the world, looking for his friend. At this point, he has been beaten and broken by Superboy Prime, and upon healing, he finds that Superboy is dead and Superman is missing (Clark was depowered for a year for the 52 storyline). There is a lot of sadness, and apparently, weeks after the event, there is still alot of Superboy blood all over the world. So imagine watching the Lion King, but its entirely made of this scene:

"Come on, Dad... Wake up..."

Yeah, but we did however get a new Subway comic which is on the way. So if you love a good reverse Old Yeller, this is a great story for you. If not, its ok. Not a lot of people enjoy crying... wuss.
